You can click above to find out more information about this plaque.

Recently we have been working on updating the store address on all the search engines and have successfully gone through a rather extensive list.

Also within the last 48 hours we were invited to join a new website and list the store. It is a very amazing site and there were a lot of creative juices that went into the creation of this site. I was really impressed with how the site was set up and so I have spent the morning setting our store up on the site. Please go and check out our listing on the Memories Superhighway. http://memoriessuperhighway.ning.com/profile/poppysscrollsawwoodwork

New Woodwork Added To Store

Poppy has been very busy getting a lot of woodwork done. Yesterday, we added nine new items to the store and managed to put something new in almost all the categories.

One of the things that Poppy was working on was getting Armed Forces Insignia Plaques done for each branch of service.
Now you can find insignia plaques for Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
You can view all the new plaques in the store by going to http://poppysscrollsawwoodwork.ecrater.com
Or you could go to our website and click on the New Woodwork Tabs and see everything.
I also want to remind everyone that we will be going on vacation July 8th - July 18 so we will not be able to process any sales.

Store Update

Tuesday, June 16th marked the end of the Father's Day Sale.

We are proud that our seller feedback is 100% from 7 customers. If you want to see that feedback, go to the store, http://www.poppysscrollsawwoodwork.ecrater.com and click on any item in the store. Once you get to that item you will see a seller feedback section. If you click on that section you can read comments from buyers.

Some of our best comments come from buyers who have emailed us back in regards to their order. In the future, with permission from the buyers, we will add those comments to our personal website for the store and to this blog.

With the summer here and kids out of school, that means that we will be taking our yearly summer vacation. This means one full week of fishing, swimming, fishing, cookouts, fishing, camping, and more fishing.
This means that July 9th - July 18th, we will not be taking any orders for the store. You will probably see a hold on the store that will prevent anyone from making purchases. I will remind everyone again of this vacation week on the blog when the time gets closer.

New Feature Added To ECrater Stores

ECrater has been working very hard and been adding new features to our stores. The changes are amazing and I think that they will help us get more exposure to the items we are selling.

The newest feature added is called Gallery View. Before, when a buyer would go to the store, they would see items listed with small pictures and the title.
Now, with Gallery View, the whole page is pictures with part of the title added beneath it. This gives the buyer the ability to browse through the items better and also get a little bit bigger picture of what they are looking for.

It is a feature that I am very excited about because it gives our woodwork and other items in the store a lot more exposure.

I commend Ecrater on all their hardwork and for the amazing features and changes they are adding to help our stores be even better.

If you haven't checked out our store yet, this is a good time to see what the new changes look like and perhaps find something you might like.

Store Update May 5, 2009

The Mother's Day Sale ended on May 4th. I will be working on setting up the details for the Father's Day Sale towards the end of this month so check back for all the details.

I am very excited to annouce that Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork is now featured on the home page of one of the sites I update reguarly. Check it out at this link http://ecrater.ning.com

As you know from a past post, we are now on Twitter. We currently have 104 followers and to my amazement have actually gotten some hits on the store from twitter. Some of our followers include Popular Woodworking, Scroll Saw Woodworking and Craft Magazine, Delta Woodworks, and Scroll Saw Goodies.

We have added new woodwork which is also listed in previous posts on this blog and also added to our website http://www.poppysscrollsawwoodwork.com

Ecrater has added a new feature to our stores that is pretty cool. Now when you click on an item and are looking at it , at the bottom of the page you will see pictures and links to 6-8 other items that can be found in the store. Its a great feature that allows some of our items to get some more exposure and will allow buyers to also view things they might not have noticed or seen before.
Thank you Ecrater.

Change in Shipping Costs

The USPS is in the process of changing the amount it costs to ship items. We have had to increase the shipping rates on the larger items in our store from $6.95 to $9.95. If that seems a lot than I implore you to consider a couple of things,

1. We have to adjust with the post office

2. A huge consideration is that wood plaques and some clocks weigh more than shipping a shirt or a piece of jewelry and require a little more packing to prevent breakage.

We recently shipped a custom order to a buyer and because of the size and special packing required, it cost $41.00 to ship.

Poppy puts a lot of love and care into the work he does and we want to make sure that it arrives to you undamaged.

Make sure you check out the store for new handmade scroll saw plaques, handmade deer and elk hide leather pouches and handmade smudging feather.

Store Update and Two New Plaques

Our Easter sale was a success and we sold 2 plaques. We also had another plaque sell that is being customized to the buyers' specifications. Very good news for us.

There has been a change made to Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork Website. The trivia idea was a bust. That is okay though, that is how we find out what works. I discovered that a lot of people, when they come to the website, are more interested in seeing what new woodwork has been added. So, with the deletion of the Trivia Tab, I have added a new tab called More New Woodwork. This was especially handy because I added two new scroll saw plaques to the store this morning.

Yesterday we added 5 Marble Bags with Marbles to Grandma's Corner. These are handmade deer and elk hide bags holding 20 small marbles and 1 large shooter marble.

Marble Bags with marbles are only $9.99 each.
Hint: Marble Bags would be a great additition to any Easter Basket.
I also completed another lens for squidoo. This lens has a lot of information about handmade smudging feathers in Grandma's Corner. Come and check the lens out. You can leave a comment on the page and let me know what you think.
Don't forget while you are there you can check out the lens for the store.
The squidoo lenses are really loaded with information and if you find something you like, you can buy it straight from the lenses.
Also, dont forget that we have a website for the store loaded with all kinds of information. Here you will be able to brwose through different tabs in the store and find things easily. Want to see the newest woodwork added to the store, go to the New Woodwork Tab.
You will want to also check the Trivia Tab on April 1st for the new trivia question. Answering the trivia question gives you a special coupon code that you can use for a purchase. This will give you the first chance at the coupon code, as it will then be open to everyone in the middle of the month.
Here are some neat facts about the store we have.

ECrater Made Some Good Changes

The Ecrater main site has made some really good changes for store owners.

The home page for our store has changed in design. Ecrater has also added two more categories to the pain. So now instead of going to the page and having only % main categories, we now have 7.

This was great for me because it allowed me to split some categories and make them their own. We used to have one category for Indian and Religious. I split those into seperate categories. I also seperated the Clocks category from Welcome Signs and Frames. Clocks is now its own category and I created a new category called More Decor.

More Decor has all the shelves, frames, key holders, welcome signs, and more in it.

This makes shopping and finding things easier.

Please go and check out the new setup at http://poppysscrollsawwoodwork.ecrater.com/

I would also like to let everyone know that a new plaque was added to the store last night.

Squidoo

Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork is happy to annouce a new place where we can be found.

http://www.squidoo.com/poppys-handmade-scroll-saw-woodwork

I discovered squidoo today and found it to be a very cool place to set up shop and make our store known.

For those who don't know about squidoo, it is a place where you create a page that is called a lens. It is very easy to set up though there was a lot of trial and error in getting it the way I wanted.

One of the neatest things I discovered when making this lens, is that I could set it up so that items from the store could be purchased straight from my squidoo lens. The lens can constantly be updated and it also has many links to the different places that our store can be found.

I encourage you to check out our squidoo lens and see what you think. If you like the lens, let others know of its existence.

I will be looking for more places to add the store to but this one is the newest.

A little secret : I have been told that there is new woodwork that is going to be added very soon. Make sure you check out the website http://www.poppysscrollsawwoodwork.com in the next day or so and see if it has been added. I will also update it on the other sites once I get the information on it. Keep a look out for it :D

Store Update

We have opened the Trivia Coupon code to everyone for the rest of March. You can use the coupon code Red1 for 15% off any order of $40 or more. You must use Google Checkout to take advantage of this coupon at checkout.

We have also added a Specials tab to Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork Website . We will put any specials that we are running for the month in this tab.

We also just got the store listed in the ecrater mall directory at http://ecratermall.weebly.com/ .
This is a directory for all ecrater stores. We can be found under Crafts and Woodwork.

Make sure you check out the store for handmade scroll saw woodwork and handmade deer and elk hide leather pouches. We also have handmade smudging feathers and smudging supplies.

Poppy Does Custom Scroll Saw Woodwork

Poppy can do custom orders for things like Name Plaques. Name plaques are popular because they can be for any age.

Poppy can also take a regualr picture of people and make it into scroll saw art.

Special Requests and Customized Plaques
We offer the option to have plaques, word, and name phrases to be specially ordered. This option allows you to choose your own choice of stains and wording. Here are a few things you need to know :
Special orders have a minimum of two weeks to be made. This is going to depend on the type of order you want.
Wood Choice: All wood is up to Poppy's discretion and depends on the type of project.
1) If you special order a plaque, the time maybe be longer depending on the amount of work that needs to be done. Poppy takes the time to do work that you will be proud of.
2) If you are ordering your own word phrase to be cut, you will need to contact us about the phrase to make sure it is something that Poppy can make the pattern for. You will also need to let us know what type of stain you would like used. You will also need to contact us about the pricing.
3) If you are ordering names to be cut out, you will need to contact us with the name you want cut out and also what type of stain. You will also need to contact us about the pricing. Shorter names won't cost as much as longer names.

Deer and Elk Hide Leather Pouches

Grandma's leather pouches are handmade and hand sewn. They are cut from the hide of deer and elk. Some of her pouches are accented with beads, semi precious stones, and added fringe. The pouches are small and depending on the size can hold small items such as pocket knives, lip gloss, and whatever small items you want to keep close to you. You will find that no two bags are alike. Each is different with it's own design. Grandma no longer makes these handmade hand sewn pouches due to her health. So when you find a pouch you like, make sure you snag it because it is the only one of its kind. Native Americans used to keep small leather pouches to keep items inside that had significant meaning to them like shells, feathers, or even small pebbles.
Come checkout Grandma's Corner where you will find 22 different types of deer and elk hide leather pouches. Prices range from $6.99 and up. Also check out all of Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork for handmade scroll saw woodwork.
Make sure to play the March Trivia game. Answer the question correctly and you can get a special coupon code for 15% off of $40.00 or more.
March Question : In Greece, what color are Easter eggs dyed and why ?
To answer the question go to http://www.poppysscrollsawwoodwork.com

Trivia and Store Update

We kicked off the Monthly Trivia Game on March 1st. We have had 3 people with the correct answer so far. All the trivia rules and the question can be found on this blog. Make sure you don't miss out on the trivia question. Correct answers get you a special coupon code that can be used in the month of March.

We wanted to make sure that you also know about our website. http://www.PoppysScrollSawWoodwork.com

There is some very useful information on this site. You will find a New Woodwork tab that shows you the newest woodwork we have added to the store. The goal is that there can be new woodwork added at least once every two weeks or once a month. Either way, this tab gives you information about the new item and where it can be found in the store.
You will also find a Trivia tab. This will lead you to the rules of the Trivia Game and also has a form available for you to submit your answer.
A Comments tab lets you leave me any comments or questions that you might have. I will respond to you within 24 hours. I am off and on the computer working on things throughout the day so I will get back with you before you know it.
A tab called Poppys Woodwork has a slide show that runs on it. If you find a picture you like in the slide show, just click on it and you will have a link right into the store. I couldn't add a direct link to the product however the way the store is set up with categories and sub- categories, it should be pretty easy to find what you are looking for.

We also have our own email address to send me any questions or comments.
kelly@poppysscrollsawwoodwork.com
I check this email throughout the day.

We want to make your experience great. We want things to be simple for you to find and want you to feel like a part of our family.

We have been telling you to get ready for your chance to earn a coupon by answering a monthly trivia question. Before we give you the question for the month of March, lets go over the rules for the monthly trivia game.

2. The question can come from anywhere but there will be only one answer that is right. You must email me the answer. This means that there must be an email address where I can send the coupon code to.
There are three ways you can do this :

A- You can go to the website http://www.poppysscrollsawwoodwork.com and go to the Trivia tab, fill out the form and in the comments section of the form add your trivia answer.

B- You can send email to kelly@poppysscollsawwoodwork.com

C- You can send an email to isma3219@bellsouth.net

3. Once I recieve your correct answer, I will send you a coupon code and the details with the code. The coupon code can only be used if you use Google Checkout to make your purchase. Once you answer the question, you will have a reply within 24 hours.

4. You can only use your coupon during the month of the correct trivia answer. For example: if you answer the trivia question for the month of March, the coupon code you recieve is only good for the month of March. Once April's trivia question starts there will be a new code.

5. You have an unlimited number of tries to get the answer correct.

Trivia is a fun way to learn new things and earn great coupons to that you can use to purchase handmade scroll saw woodwork and anything in Grandma's Corner.

March Trivia Question :

In Greece, what color are Easter eggs dyed and why ?

Good luck.

Artist Behind Grandma's Corner

Here's your chance to get to know the woman behind Grandma's Corner.

Grandma aka Trish

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am 57 years old and still retain my zest for new things for me to do. Am limited at this point in my life as I am disabled because of neck and lower back problems and I suffer from tremors in both hands. I don't like the medical limitations in my life, but I will deal with them, with the Lord's help. I love to stay busy. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 37 years, we have been through so much together and each day our love grows. We have two grown daughters and 4 grandchildren, 3 girls and 1 boy. All of them are so special to us.

2. What are some of your interests ?

Anything about our American Indians. Wild birds and critters, flowers. I love the mountains in our area. They touch the spiritual/mystical part of my being. I love the bible. Reading is a big part of my life. If one can read, one can do anything. I love beading and going to select the beads. Calligraphy interests me. Is amazing how a simple saying can explode on paper with calligraphy. Wolves interest me. They are such caring creatures towards their young. Much can be learned from just watching God's creations. I enjoy painting some of the cutouts my hubby makes. I also enjoy my computer. I like to look for pictures online and the word games. I have and enjoy too many interests to list here.

3. How did your interest in using leather to make pouches come about and the smudging feathers ?

The pouches came about through my interests in Indians. I had some leather, saw some pictures and thought to myself, "I can do that!" Some of the shapes of the pouches is what the leather looked like before I started cutting. I made the first pouch and was hooked. Ideas sprang up so fast I had to write them down.
The smudging feathers came about because I wanted one or two from pictures I had seen. I was already smudging with sage. Adding the smudging feathers was just the next step.

4. Why do you like doing what you do ?

Yes, it is relaxing once the subject study is done. Then my mind shows me all sorts of things I could possibly do. Once I have decided what I want something to look like I begin the fun part of making, already thinking of the next project. My leather bags can be a young man's treasure for marbles, or for the young ladies, a jack's bag. The bags are as personal as what goes in them.

5. What are the challenges ?

I am always looking around and reading books as to what my next plan of attack will be. When I find something, my whole heart goes into it.

6. What is your most favorite piece that you have done and why?

Every piece is a favorite in some way or I wouldn't have spent the time on them. Sometimes a piece whispers to my soul and I can't let it loose. Then it ends up as a gift or hanging on one of my walls. There is magic in everything and having a little of it to one day pass on to my grandchildren is a goal I hope they will cherish, just because grandma made it.

Check out our store and look at all the handmade scroll saw woodwork done by Poppy. Check out Grandma's Corner for all handmade elk and deer hide leather pouches and handmade smudging feathers.

About the Newsletter

I have worked very hard to make a newsletter to go out in the email. However, I am not having much luck sending it. File size is too big and the program I was using isn't very user friendly.

What I have done is scan it to my computer and add it to this blog.
If you click on the picture of the newsletter, it will make it full size so you can read it.

Next time I will find another program to work with to make this newsletter work.
The links in the scan will not work however all the links in the blog do work.

Lesson learned about the program I was using. However a lot of work went into making this newsletter so I couldn't just trash it.

Grandma's Corner

Grandma's Corner
This is a new addition to our store that we are very excited about.
This last week, we kicked off Grandma's Corner with 22 handmade, hand sewn elk and deer hide leather pouches. Grandma's leather pouches are all different. There are no two alike. Using her imagination and fabulous crafting skills, she creates each pouch and adorns them with different things to make them unique.
Grandma's Corner has also added Smudging Feathers. These feathers have hand painted or leather wrapped handles. She adds beads and other things to the feathers to make each one different and unique. There are no two feathers alike.
You will also be able to find white sage and abalone shells that can be used for smudging.
What is smudging ?
Native Americans used smudging to cleanse and purify the body of negative energy. They did this by using the smoke from herbs such as sage. You can use smudging for your body, for an object, or for even a room or new house.
Check out Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork Store and see the new category Grandma's Corner. Also make sure and look at all the handmade scroll saw woodwork.
Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork has been promoting on many different sites. We have pages on myspace, facebook, hubpages, helium zone, several directories and our newest place is Plumdrop. This is a nice area to promote and meet other sellers and hopefully buyers. There is a link for Plumdrop on the side of this blog that will take you there if you want to see Poppy's Scroll Saw Woodwork on Plumdrop.
